Spotting the Spotted Lanternfly

The State Extension Master Gardener (EMG) program will conduct a Zoom meeting titled “Spotting the Spotted Lanternfly: Intercepting a New Invasive Species within Missouri” for all EMG chapters on Tuesday, October 28, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.

Registration is free. Zoom link will be in your registration confirmation email. One hour of continuing education for EMGs can be claimed.

This session will cover the spotted lanternfly, an invasive species knocking on Missouri’s door. This insect feeds on +70 species of plants including grapes and black walnut. It lays its eggs on sheet metal and hitches rides on planes, trains, and automobiles. Attendees will learn how to identify the spotted lanternfly, its biology, ecology, and management. Additionally, we will cover who to contact and report the insect to if you encounter the spotted lanternfly.
