Monday February 17, 2020 – SOIL HEALTH FOR THE HOME GARDENER

No other factor affects plant health like healthy soil. Learn some basics of soil health and what you can do to be “soil friendly” to our greatest natural resource.

Monday February 24, 2020 – DISH TO DIRT HOME COMPOSTING

Join us for this comprehensive program where we will learn how to compost food scraps and yard waste in our own backyards using a closed system composter.

Monday March 2, 2020 – SUSTAINABLE LAWN CARE 
Joe Fearn, Head Groundskeeper, Drury University 

The typical modern American lawn is the dominant component in most residential landscapes and demands significant time and resources. As an avid pursuer of sustainability, Joe feels that any yard can be managed to decrease resource consumption like water and fertilizer while still achieving satisfactory results. Joe combines extensive training and experience to promote a new landscaping approach.

Monday March 23, 2020 – POLLINATOR GARDENS: BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME
Jessie and Carl Haworth, Springfield Plateau Chapter, Missouri Master Naturalists

The creation and maintenance of habitat for native pollinators. Native plants can be beneficial and beautiful at the same time. Attract native pollinators such a bees, butterflies, and other insects while planting and propagating beautiful native flowers, shrubs and trees.
